Dr. Diana Hannikainen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and earned her PhD from the University of Helsinki, Finland, in conjunction with the University of Sydney, Australia. During her research career, she focused primarily on “microquasars,” observing them in the radio and in the X-rays, besides dabbling from time to time on other fun objects, such as globular clusters. She’s currently an editor at Sky & Telescope, where most of her focus is on observing-related material; besides her editing duties, she pens the monthly Sky at a Glance column, as well as the bi-monthly Pro-Am Conjunction column.
